Duck Update

There has been a lot of duck drama!

First of all, on Thursday nite when we were getting ready to leave for the cabin, the husband duck showed up with a hurt leg!  He could not walk at all and was scooting across the grass.  That, of course, was very sad!  But it got worse when a new male showed up and tried to move in on his wife!

I was horrified as the injured duck tried to chase off the new male.  Horrified to the point where I was chasing the new man duck down the street!  At one point, the new male returned and created such a ruckus that they all (the two males and the female) flew off and were dive bombing each other.

We don't know what happened in the end because we had to leave.  And our neighbor reported not seeing the injured husband again.

When we got home from the cabin on Monday night we did not see the eggs on the grass!  The next morning when it was light, we hunted around and found the broken shell of one of the eggs but never found the other one.

Last nite, we saw the wife duck fly by but we have not seen her in the yard again!

So it looks like the saga of the ducks in the front yard has come to a sad end.
