Pontoon Mama's Blog

Pontoon Mama's Blog

Life in the mountains over the holidays is as exciting as ever. Actually it is some quiet boring time mixed with wild moments of delirium!

Some of the highlights include a new card game called spoons which consists of passing cards a great speed while wrestling for spoons set in the middle of the table. The trick being that there is one fewer spoons than there is players so it is an all out war trying to get the spoons. There were multiple injuries from the game - including broken fingernails, cuts, bruises and spilled beers. There has also been lots of nibs games. We have determined that Drew the 10 year old is better at nibs then Marty the 40 year old!

We have been to Yosemite 2x - took 2 great hikes and went ice skating. One hike was to the Giant Sequoias (the Merced Grove) and one was to the Crane Flat Look Out which is a fire lookout used in the summer. Unfortunately there is little snow in Yosemite - so no sledding. There was just enough snow on our lookout hike to play in the snow and toss some snowballs.

There has been one point of drama when Daisy Mae was attacked by a dog that is described as part lab, part great dane and a "smidgen of pit bull"! Of course we did not hear about the smidgen until after the incident! The dog jumped out of the back of a truck and went for her throat. She got puncture wounds in her shoulder and armpit and limped around for a day and a half. Poor baby!

We got a new ice cream maker for xmas that we have put to use twice - once for chocolate ice cream and then once for vanilla ice cream with brownies and caramel in it. Yummy!

We saw the movie Fun with Dick and Jane which was pretty funny and plan to see Cheaper by the Dozen 2 in the next couple days.

More to come...

My Blogs Namesake

Here is why my Blog is called "PONTOON MAMA'S BLOG"!!!! This summer I decided a pontoon boat was the boat for me! After a few weeks of searching throughout the US, we literally found this one right around the corner. This the fourth boat in our family and by far the best one. It beats the smelly ocean fishing boat, the trusty little lake fishing boat and my two person kayak... although the kayak comes in a close second. The pontoon mama, as she quickly became known as, is 21.5 feet of pure comfort - perfect for napping, fishing, diving and kneeboarding.

Welcome to My Blog
