G's Senior Prom

Last night was G's Senior Prom!  We took pics at Vasona and then sent them off on their way.  The report on the Prom was excellent - they had a great time.   The girls looked gorgeous and the guys were so handsome.

Lunch Group

The kids all eat lunch together everyday.  Two of the guys are Juniors so Bug and G brought them as their dates so they could all enjoy the prom together!

The girls and their college sweatshirts!  They will be spread all over the US.

Beach Day

Last weekend after being gone on a business trip all week, I decided I needed a trip to the beach.   Bug and G agreed to go with me.  We had planned on sitting on the beach all day but it was too overcast.  But not to worry, we were able do a boondoggle instead.

First stop was to watch the Santa Cruz Ukulele Club perform on the beach behind the Crow's Nest.  There were over a 100 people performing - singing and playing instruments.  It was a hoot!  Especially when they did "You're So Vain" on a ukulele!

Then we played with Hops on the beach and went for a walk to the lighthouse.  By then it was still a little too cool to sit on the beach so we had lunch on a bench in the sun near the boat ramp and decided we needed pastries!  Off to Kelly's for a snack!

Last stop was a walk thru of DIG Gardens.  Bug had never been there and her family are succulent aficionados - so that was the perfect end to a rambling boondoggle of a day!

Fried Rice

Real Story:

I made fried rice yesterday morning and Grace took it to school for breakfast.  She was eating it in her first period class and an Asian exchange student came into the room and said, "yum, what smells so good?"  BAM!  I make fried rice that good!

I learned at the feet of the masters, my Chinese coworkers!  Of course I gave them the credit and they were proud.

Happy 10th Birthday

This little weener turned 10 on April 15, 2018.  (Actually we are not sure that is her birthday, we just chose an approximate date when we got her.)  She has had 9 lives and she is lucky to have made it this far.  There have been a lot of serious illnesses, hospital stays, head injuries...  But her nasty personality (and her mama's checkbook) have always saved her.

Happy birthday to Ahi Wasabi.

Chocolate Pie

This is my new obsession.  It is the Pioneer Woman recipe.  I add a tiny bit of Starbucks Via coffee to add richness to the chocolate.  It is so amazing!

Tenants

Look at our new tenants, Mr and Mrs Duck.  They have set up a home in our front yard.

What an Honor

Real text from G:

"My anatomy group won for best skinned cat"

My response:

"Wow - that is quite an honor!  Congrats!"

YouTube Visit

On the way to work!

Hops worked a special crisis visit at YouTube in San Bruno 3 days after the workplace shooting there.  They put out a call and about 40 dogs showed up.  We were there for about an hour and half while about 300 employees came in for visits from the dogs.

There were dogs of every size and shape and all were perfectly well behaved!  The employees thanked us repeatedly for coming - and it was truly our pleasure to help them out.

Hops let everyone pet her and snuggle as needed

Quilt

My quilt is done!  Grace has been working on it, off and on, for months and she finally got it done today.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!  It is so snugly and warm.

Close up!

The back is so soft!

Easter 2018

We spent Easter 2018 at the cabin and Grandma Anna and Grandpa Roy were there too.  My folks were in EDH with my bro's family.  We had wanted to go to EDH too but it's too much for elderly Daisy Mae to go to someone else's home and she is too fragile to have anyone care for her at home.

We had planned to go to the club for Easter brunch but they were totally overbooked so we went to Rush Creek Lodge instead.  We had a wonderful breakfast that we just ordered off the menu - nothing special - but the scenery and company were delightful.  And the food was great too!

Tabletop Mountain Hike

This is the second year we did the Table Top Mountain Hike and I am making it a Spring tradition.   It is really a unique hike to hike to a flat topped mountain covered with wildflowers and tremendous views.   We had a very warm spring day - about 70 degrees and it was humid.  Ahi and Hops were HOT because it was the warmest hike of the year so far.

Barn wood

I had some shelves on this wall that I put up - temporarily - 15 years ago!  Life gets in the way sometimes.  So I finally got these cool barn wood shelves which I LOVE.  Perfect place to put the kids Senior pics.

Firewood

The Easter Bunny brought us a new cord of firewood for Easter and boy am I happy!
