National Geographic

There is a great article in the October 2011 National Geographic about "The New Science of the Teenage Brain".

It is well worth a read and the $6 news stand cost.

Highlights include:

How the brain undergoes a massive reorganization from age 12 to age 25. These changes make the brain more sophisticated and much faster.

How the reward of risky behavior outweighs the consequences for the teenage brain.

The teenage brain makes teenagers very adaptable and perfect for leaving the nest and going out on their own.
