Pandemic Reading

One of the benefits of a pandemic is it leaves you more time to read....or you just read more to escape.

This year I almost doubled the number of books I read last year.  Here are the numbers:

  • 2016: 49
  • 2017: 41
  • 2018: 30
  • 2019: 27
  • 2020: 70

My favorite books of the year include:

  • Insignificant Events in the Life of Cactus by Dusty Bowling (a young adult novel)
  • Calypso by David Sedaris (hilarious)
  • The Summer of Love in the Valley of the Moons by Nancy J Martin (about living in the SF area as a hippie during the 60's)
  • The Valedictorian of being Dead by Heather Armstrong (a fascinating book about a radical approach to treating severe depression)
  • The Dutch House by Ann Patchett (loved the brother and sister relationship)
  • The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Richardson (about the Pack Mule Book Library and the Blue People of Kentucky)
  • A bunch of the books by Robyn Carr - those were the escape books!
