It had pulled to the side and there were teenagers grabbing their stuff out of the car. At first we thought it was steam from overheating (it was 100 degrees out) but as we went by we could smell electrical fire. We went to the top of the grade, pulled over and looked for a fire extinguisher. A county worker also pulled over and took his fire extinguisher down and hit the hillside while we directed traffic.
The local fire department showed up and hit the fire with a ton of water - which put it out immediately!
The kids were from Livermore and were on their way to Rainbow Pools.
