Mt Umunhum

The Cindys

We have been wanting to get up to Mt Umunhum since it opened and was finally able to find the time to make the trek.   We parked at the lower lot and hiked 3.7 miles up to the top, where Jim met us and shuttled us back to our other car.

The top of the mountain has this round about.  Bug saw it and said, "we should make a clock".  At which point Renee immediately laid down to be the hour hand!   And the rest of us followed to make 2 o'clock!

Shenanigans

The views were amazing - and it was a hazy day.  A clear day must be crazy cool!  We could see all of the Santa Clara Valley to one side and the ocean to the other.

This is what is left of the radar tower that all of us grew up seeing at the top of the mountain.  They are still doing work on it so it is fenced off.

Jim and Mr C wore the same attire, but Jim wasn't so sweaty from taking his 20 minute nap in the car while waiting for us.

We will definitely go back again.  Next time, we will do the up and back 8 mile loop.
