We were missing a lot of the kids because they are off living their lives, but still some come back for TNDC shenanigans!
This is a blog by a "real" mom for other "real" moms. I am no fakey who is wonderful at everything....I do a lot of different things and try to do them well...but when it comes right down to it, I am just an average mom trying to do the right thing to ensure my family is happy and healthy and that my kids grow up able to take care of themselves and get out of my hair.

Crane Flat Lookout March 2023
This has been an incredible snow year. Way more than normal! Yosemite was closed alot due to road damage. The first weekend it was opened, we shot into the park and did the Crane Flat Lookout snowshoe hike. It's a quick 3 mile trip but is hard due to having to walk in snow shows in snow that was 6 to 8 feet deep in places.
Hops and I went up the trail first and waited for Jim and Ahi. Hops just sat in the middle of the trail and waited.
Ahi walked most of the way herself but occasionally would come up to use wanting to be picked up. We obliged and carried her from time to time.

Polish Pottery
I have a new obsession: Polish pottery. It is similar to Mexican pottery but has a more delicate look.
These are some of the newest pieces I have bought second hand. I think they are so beautiful.

Maple Vinaigrette
Maple Vinaigrette
1/2 cup olive oil1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
3 Tablespoons maple syrup
2 Tablespoons Dijon Mustard
1/2 teaspoons chopped garlic
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
This is a delicious dressing. I use it for salads: mixed greens, beets, goat cheese, walnuts. And we use if for Buddha Bowls: farro, tofu, salmon, roasted sweet potatoes, roasted broccoli, roasted peppers. Literally you just need to find a way to get it into your face.
Happy 15th birthday Ahi
Who would have thought that 15 years ago when we adopted this sad wiener that she would still be here and be ruling the roost. She is the matriarch of our pack, which grows and shrinks. But she has been a strong constant all these years. She can still hike 3 miles but really prefers a mile. She enjoys zoomies which includes a stop to attack Hops and jumping up and down off the couch. I am always afraid she is going to break a hip! She has been brought back from the brink of death three different times with intestinal issues, at the cost of thousands of dollars. She is a crazy, angry wiener that has brought us lots of laughs these last 15 years. As she grays, becomes hard of hearing and short of sight, we will make sure she is comfortable and enjoys her golden years. Happy Birthday Ahi Wasabi Tuna Noodle Casserole.
New Rocking Chairs
I just got a couple new rocking chairs for the backyard. They replace garage sale rocking chairs that lasted about 5 years and moved to a new home for a new life on the buy nothing webpage. I am loving these new ones.
Goofy Girl
Grandma Kathy gave Hops this giant stuffed bear and she carries it around everywhere she goes and even has tried to take it on a walk with us. This is her chair that she sleeps in and somehow she got in the chair with the bear on top of her!
Spring Time
You know its spring time when you oil the Adirondack chairs! Ready for another season of sitting and enjoying the deck. Bring on the sunshine!
