We celebrated my Dad's 25th anniversary of his heart transplant with family and Spanish food.
We loved being together, chatting and laughing. My dad got this plaque saying "lucky" as that is the theme of the life he has lived.
This is a blog by a "real" mom for other "real" moms. I am no fakey who is wonderful at everything....I do a lot of different things and try to do them well...but when it comes right down to it, I am just an average mom trying to do the right thing to ensure my family is happy and healthy and that my kids grow up able to take care of themselves and get out of my hair.

Boat Time
We had a heatwave last week, so on Friday nite, we went out on Drew's boat to beat the heat.
We had some time to surf, then tied up and ate appetizers for dinner. Oakey B loves the boat!
DC with R&R
While in DC, we staying with Uncle Richard and Aunt Roberta in Georgetown. We had a couple nice dinners and a walk around Georgetown. As always, their home was cozy and we enjoyed visiting.
While I was at work one day, Richard and Jim made a key lime pie - with chocolate crust - which sounds weird but was delicious.

Commandant 27
Jim and I took a last minute trip to DC to attend the change of command ceremony for my friend, Linda Fagan, who is the new Commandant for the Coast Guard. This means she is the highest ranking woman leading any US military branch ever!
We flew in, jumped in an uber and showed up at her house for a friends and family bbq. She lives right on the Potomac River, which is in the background in the pic above.
The next day, we attended the ceremony which was at the Coast Guard Headquarters. We got there super early because President Biden attended so there was extra security. We breezed through the security process and waited in the giant air conditioned tent for the ceremony to start.
After the ceremony, we attended a reception with yummy food and drink. Loved the Coast Guard crest on the buns!
Towards the end of the event, everyone was hot and tired, so we got special treatment and were allowed inside to hang out in Linda's office and cool off. It is nice to know the Commandant and her sister!
Linda came up and did a photo shoot with us before heading down to visit with more dignitaries.

The President could not have said nicer things about Linda and said it all when he said "it's about time a woman is in a role like this!"After the ceremony, we attended a reception with yummy food and drink. Loved the Coast Guard crest on the buns!
