Family Heirloom

I just had some work done on this family heirloom ring so that it could be used.  It was so small that it barely fit on my pinky, so I had it made bigger and had all the stones checked.  Now I can wear it for special occasions or just to work - no wearing it to do the dishes or plant in the yard!

Wisdom?

GIANT teeth!
Grace got her wisdom teeth out this week.  Thankfully, she had a really easy time of it!  She went in at 8:30 am and they were done at 9.  It took a little while for her to wake up but we were still home by 9:45.  This is a video of her scaring Hops while holding ice on her face!

Hypertufa

Liz and I did a hypertufa class at DIG in Santa Cruz today.   Hypertufa is an anthropic rock made from various aggregates bonded together using Portland cement. Hypertufa is intended as a manufactured substitute for natural tufa, which is a slowly precipitated limestone rock; being very porous, it is favorable for plant growth.

I put leaves on the sides of this one - you can see the stems hanging out.

We mixed equal parts of cement, peat and perlite and then shaped it into pots sprayed with canola spray!  They have to cure for 2 to 3 weeks and then we will take the apart, drill holes in the bottom and plant them with something wonderful!

As a bonus, I got this heart shaped put and a bunch of succulents to plant in it!

Sunday Morning Hiking Club - Alum Rock

Sulfer spring - the water was warm
Eagle Rock

The gal who designed my wedding anniversary ring, Staci, and I have become friends and she started a Sunday Morning hiking club.  I was the first member!  Today we went on the 4th hike and we have picked up members - there were seven of us total.  Coach Ann took the pic of the group so she is not in it!

Alum Rock Park is a cool place that I have not been to since I was a kid.  It was founded in 1872 and is one of California’s oldest municipal parks. Nestled within the Alum Rock Canyon in the foothills of the Diablo Range, the Park's 720 acres of natural, rugged beauty, provide visitors with many leisure outdoor activities including hiking, horseback riding, bicycling and picnicking.

From 1890 to 1932 the park was a nationally known health spa with 27 mineral springs, an indoor swimming pool, tea garden, restaurant, and dance pavilion. At the time you could ride from downtown San Jose to the park on the Alum Rock Steam Railroad, a ride that cost a quarter.

TNDC Olympics

YUM!

The Olympics are a big deal and a great excuse for a party!  The Screwtops hosted an Olympic party which included 4 different Olympic games for the attendees:  golf, archery, basketball and marksmanship (with a bb gun!).

Basketball was the hardest event!

All tried their best but it was only the top 4 who played corn hole to compete for the medals:

Renee
Mikey
Kayla
Mr C

Go Tia Tracy!

Cornhole finals

Mr C is overcome with emotion

After a few tense games of cornhole, the winner came to accept their medals.  Mr C won the bronze.  Kayla won the silver.  And Mikey, who was visiting from college, took home the gold!

Part of the fun included food from around the world.  We had orange chicken, hummus, fried rice, elk sausage, pasta and Asian pastries for dessert.

Text Comedy

I have an engineering friend at work who is so different from me but I enjoy him so much and make it a point to stay in touch since we have not been carpooling lately.  Last week I wanted to have lunch with him and sent him a text.  I didn't hear back from him until this week and this was our exchange.

I was seriously belly laughing about him potentially getting a milking machine!  He lives in Los Gatos and does not own a cow so I couldn't imagine what he was going to do with it!

Visit with the Aunts and Uncles

Beach Life

Here is a great pic of our visit with my Aunt Linda, Uncle Jim, Aunt Mari and Uncle Jim.  We had a delightful time watching the sunset over the ocean.

Cambria

We took a quick trip to Cambria to see my Aunt and Uncle who were visiting from Missouri and while waiting for them to return from a winery trip, we took a ride to see the elephant seals.  There were hundreds of them and they were fighting, mating and caring for their babies.  It was super cool.

Super Bowl 2018

As is tradition, we hosted a Super Bowl party!   It was the Eagles vs the Patriots and the Eagles won as the underdog!

Shower pondering

Monkey

Recently I was pondering life while in the shower and noticed Jesus' face in my tile (below)!  Then I started looking around and found a monkey face (above)!

I found some other pics but they are not rated PG13 so they are not going to show up on my blog!

Jesus
I just wonder why it took me 14 years of using this shower to notice these.
